Meet the Founders
We founded SilverStead Partners, drawing on decades of professional insight and personal experience. Mara brings more than twenty years of healthcare policy expertise from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Peter spent nearly thirty years in consulting, guiding organizations through complexity and critical decisions, while also caring for both of his parents in their final years.
We recognize that even well-prepared families can feel overwhelmed by the decisions ahead, especially when information is fragmented and the path forward is unclear. SilverStead Partners was built to bring calm, clarity, and continuity when families need it most.
Peter Kaplan
Peter Kaplan co-founded SilverStead Partners after experiencing firsthand how difficult it can be for families to navigate aging, caregiving, and major life transitions. After serving as power of attorney for both of his parents — managing everything from long-term care decisions and Medicaid planning to organizing complex financial accounts, coordinating medical care with siblings, and working with estate attorneys — he saw how even well-prepared families can struggle when information is scattered, passwords are inaccessible, and responsibilities are unclear.
Before launching SilverStead, Peter spent nearly 30 years in management and risk consulting helping global teams organize complex information, conduct risk assessments, and bring diverse perspectives together to create practical solutions — skills he now applies to helping families bring clarity and structure to life’s most challenging transitions. Peter works with families across the socioeconomic spectrum, from those navigating Medicaid eligibility to families managing substantial estates and multiple properties. His approach blends practical organization, thoughtful guidance around family dynamics, and the smart use of technology — always aimed at making life simpler, not more complicated. Peter holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago and is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA).
His goal is simple: to help families move through complicated transitions with clarity, coordination, and far less chaos.
Mara Siler-Price
Mara Siler-Price brings more than two decades of experience working in federal health care policy at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, where she helped oversee Medicaid programs that serve millions of older adults and individuals with disabilities.
Through her work with states, healthcare organizations, and policy leaders across the country, Mara developed a deep understanding of how healthcare, long-term care, and public benefits systems work in practice. She also saw firsthand how difficult these systems can be for families to navigate.
She co-founded SilverStead Partners to bring that knowledge directly to individuals and families. Mara is particularly passionate about helping families understand long-term care options, navigate Medicare and Medicaid programs, and plan for the evolving needs that often accompany aging.
Her goal is to help older adults and their families make informed decisions, access the resources available to them, and plan for the future with clarity and confidence. When working with families, Mara draws on her background in social work and mediation training to help families navigate complex decisions and conversations.
Mara holds a Master of Social Services Administration from the University of Chicago and lives in the Chicagoland area with her family.
